I have been admiring the furniture designed by John Dickinson for some time now. In high school one of my good friends' mom had this console in their house...
The first time I saw it I fell in love with it, not knowing how special a piece it is. I just thought it was "really cool". Then, funny enough, when I lived with the same friend after college, we actually had this piece in our apartment! Her mom is a designer and had a warehouse full of furniture, so when we we moved in together her mother told us to get some stuff to grab some stuff to furnish our new place! I saw the console and told her we had to take it! Her and I still not knowing how much this piece is worth!!
Anyway a couple years down the road, living in NYC and really starting to get into furniture design and antiques, did I finally realize the importance and worth of this piece! I think my friend's mom freaked out when she found out we had this in our "bachelorette pad". I forgot to add that we also had this little guy in our apartment too!
John Dickinson's pieces are mysteriously whimsical, yet functional. They are some of the most sought after pieces of modern furniture. A few of his pieces are can be seen on 1stdibs, from some very high end furniture collectors, as well as furniture auctions, fetching very high prices.
